James Alcantara

James Alcantara is a multi-faceted musician whose journey has been an amalgamation of band tours, Italian restaurants, night clubs, concert halls, studios, a reality TV show, back yards and many living rooms.  He values performing, being creative and sharing his knowledge.  James is a native of Southern California and has benefitted from and participated in its wide ranging array of musical cultures. He has performed  in brass quintets, rock bands, jazz combos and as a solo artist. His main instrument is the piano. However, he does not shy away from learning how to play new instruments. That knowledge helps him with his love of musical composition, performing and teaching.  James has a degree in music composition from UC Santa Barbara and has worked with many bands over the years including Justin Black and the Light, Powerflex 5, Suedehead, The Mark Sage Band and The Ambrosius Jazz Darlings. In 2008, he appeared on an episode of the reality TV Show LA Ink.
